CBR600RR is MotoGP inspired as it takes cues from the Honda RC211V MotoGP race bike. This was the first time when technology from a MotoGP race machine was used on a production bike unchanged. Some of the MotoGP included on the CBR production bike are Unit Pro Link rear suspension, PGM-DSFI dual stage fuel injection. Both of these technologies are taken directly from the MotoGP bike to this production model.
Honda is considering bringing the Honda CBR600RR in India. At present Honda offers the Honda CBR1000RR in India, its middleweight version is expected to get launched soon.
In the year 2009 Honda gave the CBR600RR many tweaks so that the ride becomes more pleasure in the midrange and a smoother power delivery. The new model is not present in India but is present in Honda’s international market like the US and the Europe and others. The bike received new and improved pistons, cylinder head and exhausts that support high torque between 6000-10,000rpm. This makes the engine city friendly without compromising high end power.
New Honda CBR600RR also has ABS system that is electronically controlled this makes the CBR600RR to become worlds first supersports bike to have a combined ABS. Visually the new updated and current version of the CBR600RR has bellypan that covers the whole engine and the C-ABS unit for the front brake.
C-ABS doesn’t mean that it will lower down the pleasure of riding a sportbike. The equipment only comes into action when you get into difficult braking situation. This machine with C-ABS feels as good as riding a standard Honda CBR600RR.
Engine
Honda did not tweak the engine much as the 599cc motor is already a gem. The engine screams on top end and behaves decent in the midrange. It makes maximum 107 bhp with an inline four cylinder engine and it really runs fast thanks to its light weight, it weighs only 194 kg which is lightest in the middleweight segment.
Ride and Handling
Not much has changed over the past with the chassis of the CBR600RR. Like the engine the chassis too is in its best form and needs no upgradation. On the corners the ride is as smooth as it is on the straights. The suspension and control on the bike is no less than a MotoGP race machine, its brakes feels right and powerful. It’s always confident and keeps its self anchored on the tarmac. CBR600RR really becomes a dream with Combined ABS. Most of the times under normal condition the Honda CBR600RR runs like a conventional sport machine, but when needed the C-ABS takes over the wheels and stops them from locking. Also the bite coming from the calipers is distributed equally to get maximum stability in all riding condition.
Equipment
The expected Honda CBR600RR in India should have all the race track essentials. Internationally the ride has radial brakes, adjustable suspension package and an electronic speed sensitive steering damper. Most of Honda CBR600RR owners miss the racing slipper clutch. Add the Combined ABS and your Honda CBR600RR becomes a complete package.
Quality and Reliability
Honda is not a new name for India. We have been experiencing Honda bikes and scooters and every one knows Honda’s are the most reliable. The build quality is flawless; the 2011 Honda CBR600RR is built with extreme precision and matches to the quality of a Swiss watch.
Value
This is a lot of beauty and is race bike that is worth every rupee paid. The standard Honda CBR600RR price in India may settle at Rs 6 lakh approx. adding C-ABS may add another 50,000.
The Bottom Line
Hyosung is going to launch its 650cc motorcycles in Indian having a price tag similar to the Honda CBR600RR. If you have patience, you can wait for the Yamaha YZF R6 to come to India. With same displacement Yamaha R6 gives out 133bhp, far more than the CBR600RR.
Keep watching the space for the Honda CBR600RR review and test ride when this baby is made available in India.
