Currently based in Delhi, Rajesh Pratap Singh belongs to Rajasthan. Subsequent to graduating in Design he worked in the Fashion Industry for two years before introducing his label in 1997. Rajesh’s work draws from his roots, the subtle not the obvious, to craft Modern garments with faultlessly clean lines & careful attention to detail. Rajesh also showcases at Paris Fashion Week. Domestic presence takes the form of eight standalone stores. The brand also retails from select multi brand boutiques in India and abroad.
He has always been a mystery to me. A very alluring mystery. He seems to be in a zen state – focused, imperturbable, and emotionless. Making himself even more alluring and curious. Forget the man, his menswear shows are one of my favourite. I feel, even better than womenswear. His skills seem to be in making tailored garments using fabrics and prints that no one else thinks about. The styling is brilliant too. This time he had amrapali-esque gold jewelery on men with kohl eyes and scarf wrapped around their faces. I am so scared he might read this and not be amused. The only 2 times I have spoken to him were extremely contemplated, nerve wrecking moves – at FNO and this time backstage where I asked why he was doing a show with 3 other designers and not a solo like he always does. His answer “Cause it is fun.” Yup, never opening my mouth infront of him again.
