Scammed in India: The Delhi Drink Scam – Delhi Video

published: 2018-10-16 18:09:37

■ INDIA, NEW DELHI: First night out in India and already fell for a scam. After failing to find a street stall to drink at we enlisted a rickshaw driver to take us to one. He dropped us off in a surreal area where we spotted a street stall with goats tethered to a railing. The owner waved us in and his customers encouraged us to join them. Awesome we thought and sat down. After a minute however I quickly realized that all wasn’t as it seemed. . . I’d been scammed!

  3. A good thing is that it's clean and people are not honking the horn all the time.

Never scammed anyone except when I was a kid and traded hockey cards. If I got scammed? I don't know, maybe. But I've been married, that felt like a scam.

  12. That video really gives a true impression of Indian city life. I like goats hope those are just pets. Fair point you wanted beer but I don't think they deliberately meant to scam you the people appear pretty genuine and getting drunk personally I did not think puking up was much fun.

  24. Indians are some of the most corrupt people on earth, corruption and dishonesty in just an everyday part of life for them, they got kicked out of Uganda for this behaviour

  25. Sorry Harald, I don't think you habe been scammed because you payed the same price as Indians have to pay.Definition of Scam: "A fraudulent scheme performed by a dishonest individual, group, or company in an attempt obtain money or something else of value."Isn't your title more like a click bite?I was sold a "beer" in Hunza Land in northern Pakistan by some of the most honest people, I ever met, Nizaris, followers of Imam Aga Khan. They promised me in the guesthouse a beer for dinner, it was warm and 100% alcohol free, and they were proud to be able to serve me one. They would not understand that I expected one with alcohol. It simply doesn't exist there.

  26. This is the Indian equivalent of Deliverance. Later that night the bald guy got rode like a goat off the fat goat keeper whilst his skinny assistant with very few teeth played the Sitar with blistering pace.

  28. EDIT: In Mexico it is forbidden to drink alcohol in the street and people need a license to sell alcohol, so prbably in India too.
The guy looked really disgusted and the people surrounding the place were alsonot amused. Good decision to leave the place, their English must have been poor and they must have thought you were laughing at them. In Mexico you have to be quite careful with the neighbourhoods you go to as they differ from quite safe to extremely dangerous.
