UK becomes world’s second most innovative country

The UK’s position as one of the most innovative countries in the world has been confirmed by the Global Innovation Index (GII).

Switzerland – perhaps surprisingly – that tops the index as the most innovative nation in the world, also for the second year running.

The UK has risen from tenth in the GII in 2011 to second in both 2014 and 2015 – the most rapid increase among the top 10 GII-ranked innovation nations – thanks to its well-balanced performance in terms of infrastructure, market sophistication, knowledge, technology and creative outputs.
