Mexico: The El Chepe train links Chihuahua to Los Mochis and crosses the imposing landscapes of the Sierra Tarahumara and Mexico’s Copper Canyon along the way. The route passes through 87 tunnels and crosses 37 bridges.
Scotland: The Royal Scotsman train rolls through Scotland’s most scenic landscapes, including peaks, calm lochs, wild countryside and natural coasts. The journey through Scotland’s highlands can take two to seven nights.
Peru: Travel the path of the Incas with Peru Rail’s Cuzco to Machu Picchu route. The journey takes travellers through the Andes aboard the luxurious Hiram Bingham train – named after the explorer who re-discovered Machu Picchu.
Southeast Asia: The Eastern & Oriental Express carries passengers in luxury between Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. The train travels past golden temples and rubber plantations as it makes its way from Singapore’s Tanjong Pagar Railway Station to Thailand.

Switzerland: The Glacier Express, a Swiss mountain trek, travels from St. Moritz to Zermatt. The journey takes 7.5 hours, crosses 291 bridges and travels through 91 tunnels.
Canada: The Rocky Mountaineer train travels through British Columbia’s most stunning natural sites. Have your camera ready as you travel past glaciers, waterfalls, limestone caves and even the UNESCO recognized Yoho National Park.
South Africa: The Blue Train travels from Pretoria to Cape Town and offers passengers a truly luxurious experience. Aside from the lovely views of South Africa, the train offers two lounge cars, butler service, en-suites in many cabins and gold-tinted picture windows.
California: Amtrak’s Coast Starlight train runs along the west coast of the United States, from Seattle to Los Angeles. The train includes a Sightseer Lounge among its cars. The lounge features floor to ceiling windows, perfect for viewing the scenery as you travel the coast.
Japan: Board Japan’s network of high-speed railway lines, known as Shinkansen. Speeds of these trains reach up to 300 km/h, which means you’ll have to watch very closely to see the beautiful country of Japan. In the above picture, the Shinkansen train travels past Mount Fuji.
