DTC staff leaves canceled for during Odd-Even scheme

New Delhi: With the second phase of Odd-Evenscheme set to begin from April 15, AAP government todaydecided to cancel leaves of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC)staff during the 15-day car-rationing period.

At a meeting with bus DTC bus manufacturers, DelhiTransport Minister Gopal Rai also warned of strict action incase of breakdowns when the scheme is being implemented.

A senior government official said all depot managers ofDTC have been directed to begin maintenance of the buses forsmooth plying during the odd-even scheme and the regionalmanager will face action in case of any breakdowns.

The leave of all DTC’s staff has been cancelled from April15 to 30, he said.

“The minister has also formed 25 monitoring units torepair buses in case of breakdown,” he said.

“We have also decided to organize an awareness ‘picnic’ atIndia Gate on April 13 where school children will be educatedabout the scheme,” the official said.

The second phase of the odd-even scheme is set to beimplemented from April 15 to 30 during which most motoristswill move towards public transport and in view of this, thegovernment is taking several steps to strengthen the publictransport in the national capital.

During the scheme, government will engage private busesunder ‘DTC Paryavaran Bus Service’, for which, it has startedregistration process that will continue till April 14.

50 per cent of seats in these buses will be reserved forwomen passengers. Marshalls to be hired by the government willbe deployed in these buses round the clock.

Earlier in the day, Rai interacted with school principalsand their representatives over providing school buses.
