Mayhem In Mathura As Violence Leads To Loss of Lives

Various slogans can be spotted on different sides of the gate of Jawahar Bagh Udyan, Mathura. On one side its written, “Azad Hind ki sena aa gayi hai Jawahar Bagh Udyan mein 15 March se” while on the other side its mentioned, “Azad Hind Sarkar Zindabad”.

 

This was the kingdom of Ramvriksh Yadav, the chief of the violent encroachers in Jawahar Bagh who was killed in violent clashes with the police. The man was literally ruling over 250 acres of land right in the middle of Mathura city and had around 3000 followers.

 

The Uttar Pradesh government transferred the District Magistrate and the Senior Superintendent of Police of Mathura on 6 June since violence led to the loss of 29 lives in the district.

The police had to fight a deadly battle against Ramvriksh and his followers to evict the cult which associated itself to ‘Subhash Chandra Bose’. The cult burnt cars, fans, coolers, grains and even trees to keep the police away. As one enters the garden, a big hoarding can be witnessed which says, “Azad Bharat Vidhik Vaicharik Kranti Satyagrahi”. Instructions were written on the hoardings about how strong Indian currency used to be before the British entered the country. Further, pictures of Indian currency, British currency prophecies of revolution, etc. can be witnessed on the hoardings and is a testament to the maniacal ideologies of Yadav.

 

The police had to face a lot of problems as the cult also exploded LPG cylinders to keep it at bay. Yadav’s quarter was located at the extreme far right of the park and there was a temple next to his residence.

 

As per the police when they tried to enter Jawahar Bagh from the backside, Yadav’s gang had ambushed them in completely guerrilla style. While the police entered the park, the gang opened fire on them. This had in turn resulted in the death of two brave officers SP Mukul Dwivedi and SHO Santosh Yadav.

 

Ramvriksh Yadav had ruled over Jawahar bagh for nearly 2 and a half years unchallenged which has given rise to a lot of questions regarding his political affiliations.
