21-Year-Old Girl Commits Suicide after Her Morphed Semi-Nude Image Surfaces on Facebook

In yet another incident that exposes the dangers of social media, a 21-year-old girl in Tamil Nadu, committed suicide after her morphed semi-nude picture was posted on a Facebook page.
 
"A suicide note was found in her room, in which she stated she could not deal with the predicament, more so after her parents suspected she had something to do with the photos uploaded on Facebook," said DSP Kandasamy.
 
According to reports, the deceased was told by her friends that her morphed image has been uploaded on the social media platform.
 
She immediately informed her family members about the incident following which the family lodged a complaint with the superintendent of police (SP), Salem district, Amit Kumar Singh, on June 23.
 
The police assured the family that the culprit will be nabbed with the help of cyber crime but on Sunday night another semi-nude photo of the girl was uploaded on Facebook along with her mobile number.
 
Disturbed by this, she committed suicide on Monday when her family members were not at home. The family rushed her to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her dead. 
 
The girl's father, who owns a powerloom, refused to receive the body after postmortem by saying that he will do so only after the arrest of the culprit who posted her daughter's morphed image on Facebook.
 
“The police is responsible for the death of my daughter. If they had swiftly taken action into the matter, the culprit may not have uploaded another picture on Facebook,” her father alleged.
 
However, the Facebook page on which the deceased girls photos were posted disappeared hours after she committed suicide.
