Life can be unpredictable and things can change on the spur of the moment. Sadly, same goes for relationships which can take a lot of unexpected turns. While it's relatively uncommon, some people show their true colours after marriage.
Meet Connie Culp; she was married to the man she loved and they even had kids. The life was good for the couple until that one fateful night of September that changed everything.
But before things turned for the worst, Connie had started noticing some signs of trouble. Her husband, Thomas Culp, would bully her and on occasions had even struck her.
The couple got into a heated argument after which Tom aimed his gun at Connie and shot her in the face, leaving her disfigured before turning the gun on himself. A faceless Connie began pounding walls before she was heard by some people in the next-door bar who packed her badly mangled face with ice to stanch the bleeding.
However, this traumatic incident happened 11 years ago but Connie can remember it like it was yesterday. But a series of ground-breaking surgeries gave her a second chance to live her life, and, in 2010, Connie became the first person in United States to receive a face transplant.
But recently she opened up about the incident and her husband who, survived the self-inflicted gunshot wound, is languishing in the jail.
