National Science Library is like a populated city of books, although everything here is well-organized and well-maintained. Books in this library are based on different sub-topics of science namely Chemistry, Physics, Botany, Astronomy, IT and lots more. NSL not only provides books, but also journals, theses, documents, patents et al. It’s certainly a perfect spot for researches and project completions

Introduction

NISCAIR serves as a single window in the country for providing all kinds of S & T information. Its role as the national information resource is fulfilled through the National Science Library (NSL) that has a comprehensive collection of S&T publications in the country and is offering services on a national scale. NSL also acts as a referral centre and clearing house for the best utilisation of the existing collection in the country. Thus, it extends its base of operation to the national scale.

Resources

Set up in 1964, NSL aims at acquiring all important S&T publications published in the country and strengthening its resource base for foreign periodicals by acquiring the journals on CD-ROM or other electronic form as far as possible. NSL has a rich collection of over 2,00,000 volumess including monographs and bound volumes of journals in the following fields:

• Reference material/secondary sources in most of the fields of science and technology

• Computer science, specially the software aspects

• Proceedings of conference/seminar/symposia held in the field of science and technology in and outside the country

• Foreign language dictionaries

The library is open to public and all are welcome to explore and utilize the collection in library premises.

NSL welcomes individuals / institutions for becoming members to utilize its huge and valuable collection. Retired CSIR staff are also eligible to become member.

  Individual : Rs. 150/- per annum against a security deposit of Rs. 1500/-   

  Institution/Corporate member : Rs. 1000/- per annum against a security deposit of Rs. 9000/-

  Retired CSIR staff : Security deposit of Rs. 1500/-

Loss or Damage of publication

The borrower is obliged to compensate lost or damaged publications either by replacing the publication or by paying for it as per the rules. In case, the amount of the lost publication is not paid, it will be recovered from the security deposit of the user.

Services    

Pragati Maidan is much more than the country’s premier exhibition complex. It is a melting pot of visitors from all walks of life and interests. It is a huge complex with a contemporary design, surrounded by greenery. It is divided into smaller buildings and compounds, which play hosts to a plethora of national and international exhibitions of all kinds. The place is forever busy throughout the year with art, book, trade, home accessories, technology, motor fairs. The complex houses five permanent exhibitions, which include the Mehru Pavilion, The Son of India -Sanjay Gandhi, Atomic Energy an Defense Pavilion.

India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) is the nodal agency of the Government of India for promoting the country’s external trade. ITPO, during its existence of nearly three decades, in the form of Trade Fair Authority of India and Trade Development Authority, has played a proactive role in catalysing trade, investment and technology transfer processes. Its promotional tools include organizing of fairs and exhibitions in India and abroad, Buyer-Seller Meets, Contact Promotion Programmes, Product Promotion Programmes, Promotion through Overseas Department Stores, Market Surveys and Information Dissemination.

 

Rajouri Garden offers conflicting virtues for city life, a busy commercial neighborhood and a peaceful residential location. There are a few shopping malls with multinational outlets enjoying the prominence of the location. You will also come across quality restaurants and schools at this residential hub. The two leading markets here are the Main Market and the Nehru Market which are often crowded by locals and tourists. Located in West Delhi, this place retains a historic grace blended with modern living standards.

Built by king Shahjahan’s daughter, Roshanara, as a pleasure garden, it later became her final resting place. In the early 1900s, the area was rented to a European club. The club still exists and there is also a cricket ground, which is very popular. Most of this area is still very well-maintained but the tomb lies in neglect.

Roshanara Club is one of the oldest Club of Delhi with very few members in the beginning on it’s
Roll in 1922, over the years it has progressed manifolds and today we have more than 2900 members.

 
The Roshanara Club is a Metropolitan city club.  The elite of capital are it’s members. Business people, politicians, lawyers, high officials of Delhi Admn., State and Central Govt. and. Judges of  Lower and High courts, professionals indeed people from all walks of life – make up the membership.  It is ideally located on one side of Roshanara Gardens and from din and noise of Delhi where members can sit and relax in it’s lush-green and beautiful surroundings.

Everything about the Club has a regal air. Roshanara Gardens has Moghul Sultanat like Nishat and  Dilshad Garden. This Club has an area of about 22 acres of land, all lush green, with old trees of Sheesham, Jamun, Mango, Peepal, Gulmohar, Palm and Narangi and other leafy trees giving the Club a look of Mini forest type. Our club is centrally located.

It is primarily catering to the social, recreation and cultural needs of the residents of Delhi. Roshanara Club is one of the handful clubs in the country providing all possible amenities to it’s members, their  
Guests and members of reciprocating clubs.

Basically it is sports club first M.C.C. Cricket Match was played  in lush-green Cricket ground of  Roshanara club.  One to two teams from U. K. High Commission play friendly cricket match with
Club every year.

Roshanara Club is more famous for Cricket Board which was held in front of an old fire place in Roshanara Club one winter evening.  All present were strongly in favour of formation of a Board of Control of Cricket in India.  Most keen were (Arthur) Gilliagan who gave great encouragement and pleaded the case to Lords. Later some well-placed personalities like: Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala, R.E.Grant Goven, Gilliagan and A.S.Demello pioneered the Concept and finally formed the Board of Control for Cricket in India in the meeting held in Roshanara Club in the year 1928.

Dr. S Radha Krishnan unveiled the plaque celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India in Roshanara Club in the year 1953-54. A trophy showcase located in the lobby of the Club gave an idea of Cricket Museum.  The tradition of uplifting the cricket game is bring maintained still. Coaching of cricket is being conducted for the young boys, under eminent coaches.  Matches are still being played.  Had Roshanara Club not been located in the interiors of Old Delhi, it would have continued to be the home of Indian Cricket in Delhi. Famous cricketers like Jack Hobbs, S.H.Sutchiffe, Frank worrel, Jack Living Stone, Fillip Maker, Richard Attenborugh, and the Mountbatens had walked on the rich turf of Roshanara Club.

ROSHANARA CLUB offers an array of entertainment and recreational facilities to members.  An ideal rendezvous for the families to relax after a hard day’s work. The Club is managed by committee of it’s members elected by General Body of the Club.Hon’ble  Lt. Governor of Delhi is President  and Mr. Deputy Chhatwani (Industrialist) – Hon’ble Gen. Secretary is playing the key roll in the efficient functioning of Club. The Club is a social one and holds all the programmes like Diwali, Independence Day,  X’mas, and New Year etc. Yet great emphasis is placed on sports. Following are the activities available to the members, their families and guests.

Safdarjung Enclave is one of the most significant territories of south west Delhi. Safdarjung, named after the Nawab of Awadh, is one of the oldest colonies in the capital and dates back to the Partition era. In 1960, the Delhi Land Federation built an enclave, marking Ring Road and Hauz Khas as its northern and southern boundaries respectively. The Safdarjung Enclave houses Safdarjung’s tomb, the Safdarjung Airport, a plethora of government and MNC offices, bungalows of politicians and plush housing estates. The Safdarjung Road runs right across this enclave connecting it to the rest of the city.

Chittaranjan Park, also known as CR Park, named after the freedom-fighter Chittaranjan Das, is a prominent locality in south Delhi, which borders Greater Kailash II. Migrants from East Pakistan settled here in the 1960s and the area evolved into a hub of Bengali culture. CR Park is sometimes referred to as mini-Calcutta, owing to the overwhelming Bengali presence here. Notable authors, politicians, entrepreneurs and artists (all Bengalis) reside here. CR Park is also home to one of the most extravagant Durga Puja celebrations of Delhi. The very famous Kali Mandir and the Chittaranjan Bhawan are major tourist attractions of the area.

Durga Puja is celebrated nationally, and this event at Delhi’s Chittaranjan Park brings the true flavour of Kolkatta’s biggest event to the capital. Known locally as mini Bengal, the park stages a fair with exquisite sweets and traditional Bengali food.
