Jumbo Moment For Indian Cricket: Anil Kumble Named As India’s Head Coach

Legendary leg spinner Anil Kumble was named as Indian Cricket Team’s Head Coach for a year on 23rd June. The gentleman cricketer’s tenure is all set to begin with India’s four Test tour of the West Indies in July this year.

 

Whereas earlier speculations were rife that Ravi Shastri may be named as India’s coach since India witnessed significant success under his tenure as the team’s director; Kumble's appointment to the premier position was much like the unplayable googly of his cricketing days.

 

Though he has no formal coaching experience, Kumble is widely respected across cricketing circles due to his huge knowledge of the game and excellent record as a player and captain.
