Rafia Qaseem Baig from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has become the first female in Pakistan to join the country’s Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) in the restive province witnessing frequent terror attack.
The 29-year-old started working with the police force seven years ago as a constable and is now will work with the BDU after completing her training of 15 days along with 31 other male trainees at Nowshera's School of Explosive Handling, media reports said.
Rafia’s training will include learning about various types of bombs, how to identify them and the ways to defuse them.
Reports say that Rafia belongs to a highly educated family and the states that when a blast took place near a sessions court seven years ago it gace her a motive to join the police force.
