Cremation of Ashutosh Maharaj

Punjab and Haryana High Court has stayed the cremation of Jalandhar based Divya Jyoti Jagriti organization chief Ashutosh Maharaj’s cremation ceremony. The court had given the order on 1 December.

Almost 11 months have passed since the demise of Ashutosh Maharaj. However, his disciples believe he is still alive. The court had ordered to carry out his last rites till 15 December.

Spiritual guru Ashutosh Maharaj’s real name is Mahesh Jha. He belongs to Bihar’s Madhubani district.

 

He was born in a Hindu Brahmin family and graduated in English medium. He was then married to Anandi Devi from whom he has a son named Daleep Jha.

 

On 29 January, 2014, Ashutosh Maharaj passed away after suffering from a heart attack. Doctors had announced him to be clinically dead.

 

Ashutosh Maharaj’s dead body has been preserved in a special room (under zero-degree temperature) for the last 10 months.

 

Divya Jyoti Jagriti organization claims Ashutosh Maharaj is in Samadhi.

 

Divya Jyoti Jagriti organization is a social-spiritual-cultural association. The organization has 65 ashrams in Punjab and 350 all across the country and even abroad.

 

Ashram’s spokesperson claims that Maharaj is in a state of Samadhi and hence can return to life any time he wishes.
