Father dies on the spot while son survives with severe injuries as truck crushes activa; driver escapes

Jalandhar: After the collision with an auto-rickshaw at Pathankot flyover, the truck ran over two men riding on a Honda scooty near Ranvir Classic shop. The scooty was nearly crushed by the truck because of which one man died on the spot while his son survived but was severely injured.

 

It is notable that Ashok Kumar (60) who died in the accident had recently lost his younger son in a road accident as well. The ASI Bhagwant Singh said that the truck driver escaped from the spot. The police have taken the truck into custody and a case has been registered against the driver.

 

Sukhdev Singh, son of Ashok Kumar told that he works as a cycle repairer and his father was a painter living in Dayalpura. Sukhdev told that he had gone to his maternal aunt's home and from there on, they were on their way to Tanda. As they reached near the flyover, the truck driver got confused about whether or not to take the flyover. Thereafter, it collided with the tempo but its speed did not slow down and further crushed over the scooty.

 

The two-wheeler was stuck near the tire of the truck. In the meanwhile, Ashok Kumar died on the spot but Sukhdev was saved as he fell in the space between both truck tires. As the truck stopped, people pulled both out from under the truck. Sukhdev was rushed to Kapoor hospital. Other than a fracture in the leg, he has suffered severe injuries to shoulder and arm.

 

Sukhdev told that on March 7, his younger brother Jasvir Singh was driving a tractor from Hoshiarpur to Tanda. Suddenly, he fell off the tractor and died on the spot. The auto rickshaw driver Sooraj told that he was repairing his auto on the roadside when he saw the truck approaching him. He said that the driver was confused about whether to take the flyover or not and in a hurry he made a cut and collided with the auto.
