India’s Green Crusaders: How Indians are Working for a Swachh Bharat

While a cleaner and greener India is a dream of almost all of us, very few are willing to go that extra mile to make the dream come true. However, we still have some in the country who are giving their all to make the situation better for all of us.

 

These are the people who are vigilant, hardworking, enthusiastic yet lesser known. Have a look at some of these ‘green vigilantes’ who have taken up a mission to make India better for living and guess what, they do it at absolutely no cost:

 

Two young women from Varanasi, Temsutula Imsong and Darshika Shah, both in their 20s, have taken up the task of cleaning the dirtiest Ganga ghat- the Prabhu ghat. The duo has also been praised by PM Narendra Modi for their efforts.

 

The campaign started in February last year, with the girls taking the help of social media to gather volunteers and asking for support. #MissionPrabhuGhat soon became trending on the social media and hundreds of supporters from all across the country joined them to accomplish the mission.

 

Since then the girls go to the ghat every day to promote and discuss cleanliness.
