Female Gang Arrested for Robbing Man on Pretext of Marriage

The Gujarat Police nabbed three women and a man for allegedly blackmailing and cheating a 50-year-old man from Rajkot.

According to a report, the gang clicked indecent pictures of the man after offering him water laced with sedatives and then blackmailed him for Rs 5 lakh by threatening to go public with the pictures.

The incident came to light when the victim Parsotam Marviya, a resident of Nana Mava, filed a complaint with the Rajkot Taluka police.

Acting on the complaint, the police arrested Khokhra resident Manjula alias Mona Vaghela 37, Daisy Makwan, 45, as well as Shila Christian 54, and Michael Joseph 25, all residents of Maninagar.

The police said that Parsotam's wife died three and a half years ago, leaving behind five daughters and two sons.

Recently, his family decided to get him married again and this is when they received a call from Shila, a matchmaker.

Shila told him that she would help him find the perfect match and invited him to Ahmedabad.

“She once again called him to Ahmedabad and introduced him to a couple of women, including Manjula. Once again, Parsotam rejected them all,” Ahmedabad Mirror reported.

Two days later, Parsotam received a call from Manjula. She tried to convince him to marry her but Parsotam cut the call.

A few days later, she called again and claimed to be in love with him. She threatened to kill herself and write a suicide note mentioning his name if he did not visit her in Ahmedabad.

Scared, Parsotam did as asked. After meeting her there, she forced him to go to Mt Abu with another girl for company. They all reached Mt Abu on May 21 and stopped at a hotel where Manjula had booked a room earlier. In the room, Manjula offered him water to drink.

Parsotam fell conscious after drinking the water and woke up an hour later only to find his jewellery and Rs 12,000 in cash was missing.

Left with no option, he returned to Ahmedabad and tried to call Manjula but she didn’t respond. A few days back, Parsotam received a call from a man who claimed to have indecent photographs of him with a girl in Abu.

The man threatened to make the photos public if he did not cough up Rs 25 lakh. Parsotam agreed to pay Rs 5 lakh and when he was leaving to pay the money, his son spotted him.

After Parsotam narrated the entire story, his son suggested him to contact police and he agreed. The police laid a trap and all the accused were arrested red-handed.
