After Sending Hand-Signed Letter, PM Modi Meets Girl He Helped with Heart Surgery

Days after sending a sand-signed letter to the six-year-old girl, who had written to him seeking help for her heart surgery owing to the poor financial condition of her family, Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally met the kid in Pune.

Vaishali, who was operated upon successfully early this month, got the opportunity to meet Modi when he was in the city to launch projects under the Smart City mission.

"Priceless moments with young Vaishali", he said on Twitter while sharing a photo of the meeting.

“After her surgery, Vaishali wrote a touching letter to me, which will remain etched in my memory…glad we were able to help this little girl," the Prime Minister said in another tweet.

Pratap Yadav, her uncle, later told reporters that the PM offered her a chocolate and spoke to her a few sentences in Marathi.

Vaishali, who is class II student at the Pradnya Shishu Vihar School in Phursungi, belong to a family of below poverty line (BPL) category. She had written a letter to the Prime Minister with the hope of getting some help.

However, the family members were not expecting any help. But within a week, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) directed the Pune District Collector to provide her with the necessary aid to perform the critical surgery.

On June 2, she was successfully operated upon at one of the most famous private hospital.

She again wrote a letter to the PM thanking him for arranging the surgery. The Prime Minister again replied to her letter with a hand-signed letter.
