Yet Another Everest Fraud: Fellow Mountaineers Accuse Indian Police Couple Of Faking Their Everest Climb

People can go to extreme lengths to earn fame. Dinesh and Tarakeshwari Rathod, both Maharashtra Police constables had told reporters that they had climbed Mt Everest on May 23. This in turn had helped them establish a record as the first Indian couple and first security personnel couple to conquer the majestic feat.

 

However, the police are investigating their claims as some mountaineers have alleged the couple of faking the climb by circulating digitally altered photos of the climb.

 

The Rathods have however rubbished such allegations and have received support from the guides who climbed with them. Even the company that assisted them in the climb has supported their claim.

 

Nepalese authorities had issued climbing certificates to the couple and officials will investigate their authenticity.

 

Some of the allegations point to the fact that although the couple was present at the Everest Base camp, they were not seen higher up the mountain. Many mountaineers also allege that they became suspicious due to the time lag between the day of the Rathod’s reaching Everest (May 23) and their press conference (June 5).

 

The couple is also witnessed to be wearing differents sets of boots and kits in various pictures. As per mountaineers, this is nearly impossible while climbing the highest peak in the world, Everest.

 

The case has aroused interest amongst people as it has become clear that some politics is going on amongst the mountaineering community regarding the Everest climb.

 

Dinesh and Tarakeshwari Rathod married in the year 2008 and had this long pending dream of ascending the highest mountain peak of the world. Their euphoria knew no bounds as they claim to have finally fulfilled their dream on May 23.

 

The couple had claimed that they had delayed embracing parenthood till they achieved the feat.

 

Tarakeshwari Rathod said “We had committed that we will not give birth to a child until we climb Mt Everest.” She also added that her husband’s constant love and support mattered a lot for her achievement.
