Sonu was lucky; thousands of missing city kids are never found

Laxmi Rani’s son would have been 12 this year. But the resident of Mangolpuri in northwest Delhi will celebrate no such birthday. Her son has been missing for a decade, and she has, as have the police, given up all hopes of getting him back. Not for her, or many others in the capital, the ecstasy of having a son return home after seven years, like Sonu did in New Seemapuri on Thursday. Indeed of the 20 children who go missing in Delhi each day, a mere six are located within three years, the rest remain untraced.
