Wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt Marries Congressman’s Daughter And His Dowry Demand Will Leave You Speechless

India’s freestyle wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt made the country proud when he won the Bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Later in the year 2014, winning the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games increased his fame all the more.

The same wrestler who earned immense respect from his fans for refusing to accept the silver medal at the 2012 London Games from the deceased Besik Kudukhov, has gained respect yet again by refusing to accept any form of dowry from the family of his new bride.

Yogeshwar tied the knot with Sheetal, the daughter of Haryana Congressman Jaibhagwan Sharma. With the ceremony haven taken place on the 16th of January, several pictures of the duos wedding made it to the limelight.

But way more than the picture, it was gesture of accepting no dowry and just Rs 1 as a token of ‘Shagun’ that won the hearts of millions.

“I saw my family struggle to collect dowry for the girls of the family. As a result, I decided on two things while growing up — I will excel in wrestling and I will not accept dowry. My first dream has been realised and now it is time to keep my second promise,” said the wrestler in an interview with a leading media house.

Yogeshwar sure has set a commendable example in a land that till date strives for hefty dowries from the bride’s side. Its high time India draws inspiration!
