8 Grooms And 60 People Came With The Wedding Party To Buy A Bride, Bid Began From 30 Thousand

A sensational case of a minor girl being sold in the guise of marriage has emerged from Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu town which displays the depths our society has fallen to in this era.

So, this is the 21st century, a century in which both men and women are considered to be equal. Feminism is the motto to which the youth swears to and the country has earned the heights of success in science and technology.

An appalling truth, which remains hidden amidst all these success stories, is our patriarchal and criminal mindset. India is still a country where girls are killed in their wombs, married as minors and even sold.

The below mentioned case is one of the same kind. As per sources, a family from Bihar was selling their minor girl, aged 13-14 years for marriage near the roadways depot of the city on the evening of 21 June. All the grooms who assembled there were much older and in the age group of 35-38. A highly depraving fact was that the girl’s own parents along with a tout were involved in this heinous act.

Nearly 8-10 men dressed as grooms along with 60 members of the marriage party had gathered at the spot and all of them were bidding for the girl. The tout coordinated with both the sellers and buyers via sign language so that people around the bus stand could not suspect anything. Further, the bid began from 30 thousand and the girl was ultimately sold for 1.15 lakh rupees.

The case shows the lax law and order scenario prevailing in Rajasthan and should be immediately addressed.
